The book includes a glossary of technical terms at the end. This is good stuff, clearly explained, with plenty of illustrations, and no wasted words. The book is as fit as its author.
Good book. It motivated me! I like the minimalist philosophy of calisthenics and the minimal monetary cost to get started. As a husband and father I do not have a lot of extra time or money but working out and exercise is essential for my well being. So, I have to fit in a workout daily to keep my health and energy up! Cute book! I got it for my 2 year old son for when we go to Montana to keep him busy on the plane.
Love the cute animal names. My son is 17 months and loves search and find books. This one has some easy pages and some that are really hard (took me a bit to find the animals lol). Some of the animals are hidden partially behind item as. I think he will grow into it in the next few months.
My son loves this book! He Memorized where the animals were on each page quickly, but still loves showing us where they are.
My 2 and a half year old loves finding the animals in this book.

What a fantastic book! I wish I could give it 6 stars.Interesting and helpful information that was written in a very readable way. The author is a gifted communicator.In addition to sharing the scientific research (in a non-boring way), I love how the author included examples from real people that explained how these principles helped them. Practical ideas that ANYONE can do...and that EVERYONE should do.
Ive never been and probably will never be a book enthusiast. Especially as a busy adult, i only read books with the value i want to learn in my life. This book was recommended and i made time to read it everyday because heres the shocker, i actually genuinely wanted to. It was easy to read, no the vocab but the font, the page space, and its point made the read enjoyable and applicable and definitely shed value to learn this mental state of really how to maximize your life be how to be truly, yourself at its..comfort. Youll get what i mean. It totally makes sense and im glad this book was taught me and gave me a new perspective to never forget.
I bought the book based on a segment I saw about the author on my favorite TV show, CBS Sunday Morning. I also saw the author's TED talk and found that interesting. The book I must admit, I found a bit disappointing. It seemed as though 90+% of the book was devoted to substantiating the science behind Ms. Cuddy's work but less than 10% on how to actually apply it. Overall, the book left me with the feeling of, 'is this all there is?'
I know Amy Cuddy's original research on changing body language to change your chemistry has been brought into question but I'm a believer. I've seen and experienced firsthand the benefits of power posing, positive mental attitude and reframing emotions (nervousness to excitement). I believe enough that not only did I buy the book, I bought a copy for a coworker who I'm coaching in the area of public speaking. She read it and had many take away ideas to improve her presence. I recommend the book for individuals who haven't yet focused on how they can improve their presence whether for public speaking or just around the office.
One of the most important books I've ever read. Any Cuddy is a remarkable author and researcher who has opened a world of insights in this powerful book. I've just finished my first reading, and instead of beginning the next book on my list, I'm going to read this one again. Highly recommended!!!!

I came late to Amy Cuddy's TED Talk, only having seen it about six months ago, but eagerly pre-ordered this book since I was intrigued by the ideas from Dr. Cuddy's research. While I'm glad I read _Presence_ and did pick up some interesting information, it felt as if the main principles -- standing in power poses to achieve confidence -- were already covered in her talk.The first 2/3 of the book is mostly a recount of research studies that show how the body can change our mindset. The studies that Dr. Cuddy cites were interesting and I liked reading them, but the nitty-gritty of how to implement these changes in your life were really only apparent in the two chapters before the final one (which just included stories/emails of people who had changed their lives based on seeing Dr. Cuddy's TED Talk).I had been hoping that this book would go into more depth about how to implement the poses. While interesting to read, if you've seen the TED Talk, this book won't offer much new information about how to power pose.

Sometimes you come across a book that encompasses so much of the human condition, it speaks to your entire soul. Genesis Begins again is one of those books.While this story follows the journey of Genesis specifically and the many ways she hates herself, I believe the author tells this story in such a way as to speak to anyone who has ever felt 'less than' in one way or another. I also loved that she tackled the difficult conversation of blackness from within the black community. It's clearly a topic people within the community need to address, but as a white reader, I learned a lot from this glimpse at Genesis's life. Thank you to Mrs. Williams for sharing Genesis with the world. I can't wait to read your next offering!

Genesis' voice brought me back to that time and reminded me of learning the hard lessons of who "real" friends are - and how much better off we are when we find and stick with them, no matter how unlikely our friendships may be! I LOVED this book. Alicia Williams' writing is real, relatable, and relevant. It makes me want to hug Genesis, my middle school self, and my middle school son - and tell us all: you're too awesome to worry about what anyone else thinks - you got this!
This book is so fundamentally important, and yet it never once feels heavy-handed. Williams deftly weaves important issues that real kids are dealing with into a funny, sometimes sad, and ultimately triumphant story. The strong voice carries the reader through, and it's honestly one of the best middle grade books I've read in a while.
This is one of the best Middle Grade books I've read in a while. I found myself 'talking'(at times yelling) to the main character as I sometimes do to TV shows - that's how involved I was in this story. I was drawn in by young Genesis, and rooted for her all the way. A Great read.
This was such a powerful book! As the step-mom of a biracial daughter and an educator of middle and high school students, I reas this book with interest, but sadness. As I walk into the school...as I talk with my daughter...I can’t help but think about and wonder how much they all carry under the surface. This book makes me want to do a better job of trying to empathize with their pain that they never talk about.
This book is bound to become a classic. It’s message is powerful and important. My 11-year-old daughter and her book club read it (along with the moms) and loved it. I highly recommend for ages 10 and up. There are some intense story lines (a parent’s addiction, etc) so I would suggest reading along with your child so they you can have dialogue about it.

As another review mentioned, reading this book is like sitting down at the kitchen table and learning about reef aquariums from a good friend. I wanted to catch up on any changes in the hobby since back when I started, and picked this because of its 5-star rating. I've read many books on reef aquariums, fish and coral over the years and this is easily one of the best. As someone who has had a reef aquarium for over 20 years, I can tell you that his information is accurate and his advice is spot-on. If you're just getting started with a reef aquarium, this is your go-to book.
I recently decided to start a saltwater tank and bought a Biocube 29. During my initial days of research, I combed the internet and found way too much information out there that was either contradicting or confusing (for a noob). I started searching Amazon for a book to read that kept it simple as possible and presented a reasonable amount of information for the money. I decided to download a sample for this book, and really liked the tone (not overly serious and sometimes quite funny), plus it covered everything a noob like me should know (without major overkill or information that might scare you from starting the hobby), so I decided to buy it.I read the entire book over the course of a couple days and LOVED it! The information presented was full and easy to understand, and fun to read. I highly recommend this book if you're thinking about starting a hobby or are in the initial stages of starting. I've gone to it a few times afterwards to re-fresh also, so it's a good point of reference to have on hand later on. I joined the author's blog and found it to be informative and he's very open to help anybody that might have a quirky question (like me!). Totally worth $8...don't hesitate especially if you enjoy the sample Kindle provides.
This book was a great introduction into the hobby, offering a great foundation for diving into the saltwater world. It was entertaining to read, and flowed well. This is hardly a comprehensive (or advanced) resource, so I would recommend this book as one component of your saltwater fish keeping library.
With a few decades of old school Amazon fresh water aquarium husbandry, I was encouraged to go salt water with a nano 20 gallon all in one tank. I needed a starting point resources, and found it 5 star in this book. Thank you for writing it!
As a beginner in the world of saltwater I've been reading every book I can find on the subject. This book and the other two written by the author have by far been the most informative and interesting as a beginner. The information in all three books have been to the point, realistic, and very easy to comprehend. A few books I've read you would need a degree in marine biology to understand but the author does a great job translating the never ending information needed to know for this hobby. I consider all three books a must read for anyone interested in the hobby, the authors knowledge mixed with his humor makes all three books an informative and easy read.
Most helpful of all & i've purchased & read 15 now. Many of the others are filled with great information it's just that this book gives you confidence to start & the desire to do a good job of it. He keeps it simple & gives you the rationale which makes you want to learn more. wish it was bound & not just an e-book...

I have been away from this subject for many years - I studied copyright law at Harvard and was Legal Advisor to the U.S. Copyright Office. This book sets forth the current state of this rather complex and ever-changing law in straightforward language, understandable by anyone who cares about the subject. It certainly is nicely bringing me up-to-date, for which I am grateful.
Forget casebooks, this book is enjoyable enough to read casually. The beginning of the book provides a great summary of copyright law in general, as well as an explanation of the other areas of Intellectual Property so you have your head in the right place before the idiosyncrasies of music copyright law are discussed.
I bought this first as a Kindle edition, but then ended up ordering the paperback. This is one you'll want to be able to highlight, mark in, and use beside other work. See my review of the text itself with the paperback edition.

Great book whether you’re a Marley expert or just learning about his music.

The full title of Ritchie Unterberger’s book is ‘Bob Marley and the Wailers. The Ultimate Illustrated History’.Imagine, for a moment, that you were compiling the ultimate illustrated history of Bob’s life, what photographs would you include? There would doubtless be pictures of Bob’s parents, his birthplace and other places that meant a lot to him, as well as pictures of ‘Bunny’ Livingston, Peter Tosh, Joe Higgs, Desmond Dekker, Rita Anderson, Haile Selassie, Johnny Nash, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Chris Blackwell and all the other people who played an important part in his life, topped off with pictures of the man himself at all stages of his life, both in private and in performance.This book scores very well on most of these fronts, supplemented by plentiful photographs of records, posters and other memorabilia but is remiss in including no photograph of Marley’s manager Danny Sims. There are also no photographs of Bob in Zimbabwe or playing football. In addition, some photographs could have been better chosen. For example, there is a picture of Bob on stage with Michael Manley and Edward Seaga at the One Love Peace concert in Kingston on 22 April 1978, but it’s not a photograph of the two politicians shaking hands or a more iconic one of Bob hand-in-hand with the two men.The text, which includes brief album reviews and a selected discography, is generally very good, although here too, in one or two places, there’s scope for improvement. For example, it states that, “If his mixed racial background was … the possible source of some teasing from his peers as he grew up in black Jamaican society, Marley never let it hold him backâ€, when Kevin Macdonald’s excellent documentary ‘Marley’ (one of the sources used in the text) makes it crystal clear that there’s no question but that this was a source of teasing, or even bullying, of Bob in his youth.I don’t wish, however, to end on a negative note. If ‘Bob Marley and the Wailers. The Ultimate Illustrated History’ is not pictorially definitive or literally word perfect it is nevertheless a very enjoyable book indeed, which is lavishly illustrated throughout and much better researched and written than most such books. Any Marley fan would be very pleased to have it grace their shelves.
Bob Marley and the Wailers: The Ultimate Illustrated History is another great entry into the Quarto company's canon of excellent music books. Great pictures, graphics, cool and rare memorabilia make this book something you want to read from cover to cover. The other books Quarto has that are on my shelf regard Bob Dylan and the New Barbarians, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood's outside of the Stones project. What's great in addition to the eye-pleasing format of these books is the clear passion the writers have for their subjects. I couldn't have written them better myself! Might have to start collecting 'em all!
The Quarto Series of music books are a lot of fun and this one does not disappoint. This book is all about the photographs and it is filled with lots of great ones. The biography and discography are straight foreword with no real surprises. This book will appeal to casual and hardcore fans. Kick back with some good tunes and enjoy the read.
