This beginner's method book, while providing fun activities and appropriately levelled songs, contains numerous errors, typos, and even pictures of the wrong instrument! This is a ukulele book and my students love pointing out the pictures of guitars that the editor somehow missed. Some words are in bold that shouldn't be, some chords are wrong. Easy enough for me to make the adjustments as I go along and point them out to my students, but a new edition should definitely come out with some editing.
Great book for kids. Only teaches C,F,G7,Am chords but the songs are good and the instruction is great. My 7 year old daughter has read the whole book, pretty much taught herself chords from it, and loves playing the songs.
This is a well made product and is standing up nicely to my 4 year old and even when it gets into the hands of my 1 year old. It is so fun hearing my son play songs and sing. It is a good fit for him and easy to use and hold.

Some of the tips were kind of lame, as if the author was trying to stretch out enough tips to make a book, but some of them were actually very helpful. She could have written a booklet instead and probably sold more and it would have been even more effective than sticking in all the silly tips that were not necessary or practical.
Good book,another book that has valuable ideas not just for the tree huggers but for the everyday household. some of the ideas I was already aware of and others not. my familly is also reading it and we will change some of our ideas accordingly.
During the course of researching an upcoming book on environmental issues, I've been required to read a number of practical guides on saving money while protecting the environment. Many of these books follow the same cookie-cutter format: group the advice into themes, for example, room-by-room; begin each entry with a vague overview of the dilemma; present advice to help stem the problem; and conclude by offering a list of additional resources. "Beyond Recycling" is no exception: its tips are grouped in an encyclopedic format, with entries organized A to Z; each section begins by briefly describing the environmental issue in one to four short paragraphs, then counters with several tips to help combat the problem; and usually ends with a few "Helpful Resources" that interested readers can follow up on.The author succeeds in providing her audience with "336 Practical Tips" to "Save Money and Protect the Environment." The book is a good resource for those who want quick, practical, and efficient tips to conserve cash and help the planet. The entries are nicely organized so that information can be found quickly and without much searching. Although the grouping of the tips is self-explanatory, Ms. Stein really should have included an index as well, as some of the advice could be given more than one title, and some of the entries deal with more than one issue/activity. However, this is a minor point, particularly since the volume is relatively short and straightforward.A bigger complaint I have with this guide (and most other environmental "how-to" books) is the author's failure to document her claims. Although I consider myself an avid environmentalist and have no doubts that we're steadily spoiling the earth, I'm also wise enough to acknowledge that many of my peers don't share my sentiments (isn't that why we're in this mess?). While those who are already concerned with environmental issues might not question these sort of general, unreferenced statements, such arguments won't succeed in convincing more skeptical readers that there is indeed a problem that needs to be addressed. Of course, I realize that these types of guides are targeted at the former audience, but it would be a nice bonus if "nature nerds" such as myself could also use them to persuade our disbelieving friends and family.
This is an excellent resource for anyone interested in going a step further than just recycling. Organized by products, she gives valuable information about alternatives to many everyday products plus some new uses, as well as names of companies that make, use or process recyclables.

I've been using this phone for a few months now and have had a chance to use most of the features. Most of them are pretty standard to cell phones these days, but a few things are worth commenting on:-Great speakerphone. Very loud and clear sounding, both ways.-Decent battery life. Almost lasts a week with minimal usage; 2 days with heavier use.-Battery meter is very inaccurate below 1/2 charge. Seems chronic with Motorola phones.-Nice, clear display. A bit hard to see in the brightest sunlight, but other than that, no problems.-Camera is of average quality at best. Takes okay pictures for a new wallpaper, but that's about it.-Serious annoyance: One of the side buttons that remain exposed when the phone is closed controls the type of ring/vibrate. It's very loud if you don't already have the phone on silent/vibrate only. Basically, to quickly change to phone from a loud ring to silent--say in a theater--you have to make a loud noise. Very short sighted. And since the button is exposed even with the phone closed, you end up hitting it by accident quite a bit.Overall, I'm pretty happy with the phone. I could've chosen a smaller phone with a better camera, but not with a speakerphone, or with speakerphone, but not at this price. (...) Can't beat it on value.

As the world gets smaller with technology it is more important than ever that your business connections, the people you keep closest at work have more to do with your success than anything else you do. Meh. Somewhat disappointing. This book just didn't stick out to me compared to other business auto-biographies (like "made in america" by Sam Walton). His journey wasn't really that fun to read nor did I learn much that I hadn't already known. The main thing I did like about the book was the historical context and some car facts that I hadn't known. Other than that, this book gets a "meh" from me.
I liked the line, "Make America Great Again". I know I've heard it before. My background it pretty similar to Iacocca's. My Dad was an Italian immigrant who came through Ellis Island and had great life living the American dream. His three children didn't do too badly either. I don't know if the same can be accomplished these days.
The statements about our trade agreements and national debt are still very true and more important than when this book was written. Wake up American citizens, there is no free lunch. Maybe if Iacocca were president he could have implemented his policies and actually made progress on our debt. If we all sacrifice equally (government included) we could succeed.
Iacocca's got his weakness, but they're far overshadowed by his strengths. To the point, courageous and like to have fun in life. What's fascinating is his view of business related to government regulation in the early 1980's. I think he was ahead of his time when you consider the S&L crisis of later in that decade and the most recent housing bubble. Even after all the acclaim Tenth of December has gotten, I was a little iffy about jumping into the collection for fear that I was going to get what I've come to think of as the worst stereotypes of New Yorker short stories - stories about rich white people that focus so much on malaise and angst that they forget to have a story or much beyond a setting and some character beats. Instead, what I got was a collection of sharp, funny, satirical stories that brought in science-fiction elements, social commentary, rich characterization, and absolutely wonderful prose - and, if all that's not enough, even managed to be genuinely, richly funny and nicely moving. Saunders takes on all kinds of issues in these stories, and while a lot of them are about class issues, he also takes a look at the American obsession with medication, the absurdity of business speak, helicopter parents, and much more. But he does all of these while always telling engaging, satisfying stories first and foremost, and giving them all not only lots of thematic depth, but also satisfying plot beats as well. There's "Victory Lap," which finds a pair of over-parented children dealing with an intrusion of the real world into their overly-regulated lives. There's the spectacular "Exhortation," where a business manager tries to find the most positive spin for a job that only gradually reveals itself as something less than desirable. "The Semplica Girl Diaries" gives us a window into a middle class life that's constantly striving to do whatever it takes to match up with everyone else, while "My Chivalric Fiasco" finds a Renaissance Fair knight embracing his role at exactly the wrong time. And that doesn't even touch on the painful, darkly comic but ultimately horrifying "Escape from Spiderhead," where you get a window into the next generation of medications that will shape our moods, or the heartfelt title story, as a terminally ill man's attempt to end his life is thwarted in an unexpected way. There's not a bad story to be found in Tenth of December, but more than that, there's not a story that falls into some cliche about what bad short stories have become these days. They're sharply satirical, engagingly funny, richly plotted, and as if that's not enough, the writing is wonderfully and constantly surprising, finding new voices constantly and evolving to fit whatever the story needs it to be. In short, Tenth of December deserves all of its acclaim and then some, and it makes me not only a convert but an enthusiastic one who's going to be reading more Saunders as soon as I possibly can.
George Saunders is like no other author I've read, and I read a lot. His style is odd, but it's not because he's odd but because he peers inside of his characters' minds and finds the weird truth of what it's like to the other, those people who are battling through every scene of life with limited skills but a fierce commitment to getting to the end of the story. You'll see. The best stories in the collection are the title piece, a chilling tale of selflessness and courage in the face of crippling limitations, and the first two, Victory Lap and Escape from Spiderhead. Riveting, soul crushing and finally surpassing, each in its own very different way. Absolutely incredible stuff. Read it now.
The first thing I thought after reading “Victory Lap,†the first short story in George Saunders’ ten-story collection, was “This is a story that will stick with me for a while.†Saunders chases the threads of thought of three characters as a traumatic moment unfolds. In so doing, he raises some poignant questions: Are we really that different from the “bad†guys? And if we are, how thin exactly is the line that separates us?The poet Galway Kinnell once said, “Often a poem at least starts out being about oneself, about one’s experiences, a fragment of autobiography. But then, if it’s really a poem, it goes deeper than personality. It takes on that strange voice, intensely personal yet common to everyone, in which all rituals are spoken. A poem expresses one’s most private feelings; and these turn out to be the feelings of everyone else as well.†It’s this degree of empathy that makes the successful stories in Saunders’ collection really pop, whether it be from the perspective of criminals (“Escape from Spiderheadâ€) or in addressing a topic like slavery (“The Semplica Girl Diariesâ€).Nearly every one of these ten stories experiments with form. It’s here that the collection’s weakness lies. Some stories, like “My Chivalric Fiascoâ€, while well-written, seem more interested in experimenting with form than in the message it tries to convey. Or at least the form draws too much attention to itself. The same could be argued for the diaristic shorthand of “The Semplica Girl Diaries.â€Needless to say, it’s unusual to find a voice willing to struggle (and with such authority) to find the good in a humanity clothed in darkness — and in a tone of voice that’s as fun as writers like Voltaire or Kurt Vonnegut. Saunders seems deeply attached to his characters, pitying them, like Leo Tolstoy — not because he’s better than them, but because the faults that cause their suffering are the same as his.
This wonderful book uses extreme scenarios, unusual people and circumstances to get to the heart of what it means to be human. As in his Lincoln in the Bardo, there are moments that are very moving, the humanity of the characters coalescing in a single remarkable sentence or paragraph. The stories are humorous, sometimes almost science-fictional, but the poignancy of the characters is even more finely drawn because of the juxtaposition. I highly recommend this collection. Saunders is a master of the short story.

While I thought the first two volumes of Citrus weren't that great, by Volume 3, it picked up and the fifth volume is also quite good. Yuzu finds that she has an actual fan, one Nomura Nene. Unfortunately, she also has a new enemy in the form of her friend Harumin's older sister Mitsuko, who proves to be one nasty piece of work. Mitsuko decides to pit Yuzu and Mei against each other in a student president election. Probably the best scene involves Mei confronting Nene and asking just why she is a fan of Yuzu. Nene's answer gives Mei insights into what she herself sees in her stepsister. As a bonus, at the end, Matsuri pays a visit; I thought she was the one who gave Volume 3 strength, so it was great seeing her again. I won' t go into details as to what happens, but it is very funny (Yuzu might have a dissenting opinion).
This is such an amazingly good story. I never, ever read anything, but these volumes have somehow gotten me to reading a full one each night.After watching the anime I just felt unfulfilled with it, but was wanting more, so decided to pick up the manga. 100% glad I did, it’s not only what I wanted but much more.Volumes 1-4 cover the anime, but with a bit extra. After 4 it’s just even better and doesn’t stop.
This series has become a secret addiction! I look forward to every release, as we delve deeper into the lives of Yuzuko and Mei. Dive into this decadent fantasy, and allow yourself to be pulled along by the uncertainty of that first, hesitant love.

This book has nice glassy pictures and all but is very poor on technicals. For example most of the discussion on motherboards is regarding the physical dimensions!
Simply stated a good book. I did overkill to build my first personal computer, a gaming monster. I dont use it for gaming but for video editing. the book was very helpful, but I also found many youtube videos that helped too.
I bought this to assist me with my first build. It has been a life saver being that I'm not all that tech savvy. Think of it as sort of a PC building for dummies.
This book assisted me by describing the necessary considerations when buying parts, and considering software for my computer. The unfortunate truth however, is that when it comes to physically assembling it, this book is not entirely helpful. For anyone who has built a computer before, this should be no issue, but for someone who has very little knowledge and is attempting learn with a companion, this book should not be your only consideration. I still recommend this book however, as it is currently up to date with it's description of modern technology and recommendations in terms of equipment. As a result, if this book were to accompany the manuals that you get with each part, it should be of assistance. I intend to continue to reference it when I add on to my current computer, as there are descriptions of certain operations in regards to certain hardware.
