I think that this is a beautiful book. The paper is a bit thicker than I expected, and the pictures are clear and defined.My only complaint is that there are illustrations on both sides of the paper. I would have preferred a picture on one side only so I could really enjoy coloring and and then displaying. Other than that complaint, I'm loving this book.
I love the covers! Reminds me of the romance comic books I read when I was a little girl. I enjoy coloring books like these.

This book is so fun and light-hearted. The pictures have plenty of variety so that the theme doesn't get boring! The quality of the book is excellent.The paper is smooth and a good weight: I have been using alcohol-based markers in this book with excellent results.The main images are one-sided. On the back of each page there is a small image, like a single panel or frame, but if your medium bleeds through and you can't color them, you won't be missing out. The paper is thick enough that you can't see them through the main image.The images are centered on the page with about 0.5"-0.75" margins. The pages are a nice bright white, and they're perforated.You can find images of some of the original titles online if you like coloring from a reference.I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes romance comics, vintage style, or old chick flick movies.

This poster book was everything I hoped for and more. It is filled with vibrant color posters of all the Disney movies, including Pixar produced ones. Some foreign posters are included as well. My music students are putting on a Disney theme's spring program, so the book will come in handy as we decorate the walls leading to the performance area.
A pretty good book, really large in size. I question the inclusion of some of the posters. More posters of classic movies would be a lot better.

When I first saw that this title was gong to be released I was very excited. Being a fan of both Disney's animated and live-action films I couldn't wait to see many of the posters from over the years. While the book covers all of the major animated films, live action is a different story, Of the 141 pages a little more than 30 are devoted to live-action posters. Most of the live action posters featured are made up from the more recent theatrical releases. The book is basically 80% Animated titles and 20% live-action. If they had entitled the book Disney Animated Posters from Steamboat Willie to Inside Out then one would get what they expected. Some of the films are even featured twice because of a difference in artwork or style. The book itself is solid and well crafted and the pages are very durable and sturdy. It would make a great coffee table book and a good addition to a Disney book library, While I would still recommend this book, it's not everything the title says it is.
The posters will greatly appeal to Disney fans. It is just too bad that the price may well be beyond the spending money of the intended audience.

God’s timing is always perfect. When I signed up to review “Storm Proof†a few months ago, I was intrigued by the title and figured that it would be an interesting work of nonfiction. What I didn’t realize was how appropriate it would be for this season of my life. All of us travel along rocky paths once in a while, but sometimes there are periods when it seems as though we are in the middle of a gale with a vicious onslaught that seems unrelenting. We love the mountaintop experiences we have with God, and although we do not often choose to also walk through the valleys, it is during those low treks that we learn the most. As we come to cling closer to the Lord, we come to know His lovingkindness and provision more deeply.Indeed, “[t]he compass that will lead you out of the storm is your ability to recount the miracles God has done for you and others in the past. The miraculous God of the land who provides for us in abundance is also the God of the seas who preserves our lives in times of peril.†The truth is, we are jaded. We have become desensitized and far too often can’t see the forest for the trees. There are so many miracles all around us each day that we don’t even acknowledge, let alone the miracles of healing and protection that the Lord grants. God has always been in the miracle business, and He still is! This is one of the points that struck me early on in this book; McLeod posits that when Jesus appeared to His disciples on the Sea of Galilee during a terrible storm, Peter asked if it was Jesus because he knew that if it was, then something even more miraculous was about to happen. We are safe in the Savior’s arms!In keeping with the nautical theme, McLeod shares that her anchors for the storms of life are the Word of God, worship, prayer, and the Holy Spirit. With this combination, there is no storm that can defeat us. God protected Noah and his family during the flood, after which He made a covenant promise to never again destroy all living beings while the earth remains. Noah’s story brought up two tidbits that snagged my attention: God wept over the flood, and he had given the people of the earth 120 years while Noah was building the ark to turn to Him, but they did not and so they perished. We have the same option today, and while we may not be facing a worldwide flood, what is at stake is our eternity.Likewise, McLeod’s section on Job’s story is enlightening. Job teaches us to worship while grieving and while waiting. Worship should always be our response, no matter what our circumstances. If Job, who lived before the redeeming power of Jesus set us free, could worship through his devastation, how much more should we! One of my favorite quotations from this book is that “Satan is still roaming the earth, but he no longer has the same power depicted in the book of Job because Calvary changed everything, for all of eternity. And you, my friend, have been given the authority and power of heaven to defeat him!†I am sorry to say that at times I give the adversary more power than is due him when I should be focusing on the unlimited and all-surpassing power of the Lord of heaven and earth, power that we have access to 24/7!“Storm Proof†is a thought-provoking, engaging read that packs plenty of punch and insight into its 256 pages. If this book had a soundtrack, it would be “Praise You In This Storm†by Casting Crowns. The Biblical stories and characters may be familiar, but McLeod offers a fresh perspective on their experiences and on how and what we can learn from them. Also interspersed throughout are some of her own personal recollections, which indicate that she has first-hand knowledge of life’s storms. Don’t we all? So let us be not hearers only of the Word, but doers as well, in the calm and in the storm.I received a complimentary copy of this book through CelebrateLit and was not required to post a favorable review. This is an interesting piece of literature as we see the differences of France and Guadeloupe. It makes us think that the country we live on is not always perfect but there are flaws in itself and the progression of finding the identity of who we are and what part we take. Hence the name, 'Crossing the Mangrove' which describes the difficulty of progression from Point A to Point B.Through different perspectives of characters, the audience has to create the conclusion of who the mysterious foreigner, Roger, is. This is the underlying theme and is what runs the plot - the differences of attitude.It's an OK read, not personally my top favourites however.
Didn’t like this book at first, however it is just the style. Further reading peaked my interest and as I read more of the book I grew to appreciate the writing as well as the story.
Here is an elegant writer in any language and about any place who relays stories about characters in rural Guadeloupe who collectively relate the mystique of the place, the mixture of cultural expectations, of extended family, of constant involvement in each other's lives, and of the power of story-telling. I enjoyed every page.
I had to read the French version for a French literature class and decided after I read the original French version that I would give the English version a try and it is amazing as well. The translation is very good and I would recommend either the French or the English version! Very interesting book.
I am a new fan of Condé because of this novel. I had to read this for my francophone class and fell in love with the stories. The way Condé wraps the ending perfectly is a testament of her artistic abilities. Amazing.
This book was easy to read and enjoyable tale. The reader will be able to relate a lot of this book with personal experiences and still be taken to a new place with a unique culture.
This book was ordered as part of a bundle of textbooks needed for the Spring 2013 semester. The books arrived within two days due to my Amazon Prime subscription, and were in brand new condition. I am very satisfied with my order and all of the products will be very useful in my classes this semester. I will continue to buy books from Amazon in the future!
