Wow! This story truly blew me away! I couldn't put it down. The story draws you in and keeps you engaged throughout. The very first page of this book throws you immediately into mayhem and the author is able to depict such a vivid picture surrounding these characters. The chemistry between the two main character's Dante and Eve is palpable and extremely incendiary. Dante is not your typical alpha, he is a man with a heinous past and percieves himself to be evil through and through, but the minute he lays his eyes on Eve he sees his salvation. Eve is an incredibly strong and resilient character. She was able to adapt to her surroundings and not lose her fiery spirit. There are so many twists and turns in this story that leaves you on the edge of your seat. I truly can not wait to see what happens in the next book. If you enjoy books with a sassy heroine that has a backbone and you enjoy alpha males with tortured pasts who hope to find redemption with the love of a good woman, then this book is definitely for you.
This story had me on edge from start to finish wondering what would happen next and fanning myself at the scorching heat between Dante and Eve. My heart broke for them at every turn that pulled them apart. They where both deeply damaged and complex characters. I loved the glimpse into Dante's dark world and his motive for the things he does. A dark and decadent read, I'll definitely be looking for the next one as soon as possible.
I liked the story. it seemed repetitive at times but I liked the characters. I don't like to start a trilogy until all three books are released. There have only been a few that I have read that I have enjoyed all three books. I am not sure if I will continue this series. My mistake for not checking first to see if all books had been released.
Now that’s how a cartel/mafia/MC book should be done. Absolutely amazing, I applaud everything about this book. I’m happy I bought it and it is def worth every penny. I’m a little nervous that Dante might do too much of an about face and turn into a love sick puppy, but I’m crossing my fingers he stays a complete bad ass. Great read!!
This book was actually entertainingI liked that the dynamic between the main couple is no full of violence.Their us violence in this book, action and blood but no between them and that is refreshing. I liked to see a female protagonists that was not tortured for the hero and then she forgives him.And I loved that the H is good with her but he is still a hard man and violent in his life.I liked the climax of the story and I want to know what happens next.
Eve first encounters Dante one night in a liquor store when he holds a gun to her head. Really interesting way to meet a girl huh? Her next encounter with him is just as equally terrifying and instead of walking away from him, she finds herself captive in his home.Okay, so a freaking terrifying experience for Eve but this scary man has something about him. Danger, arrogance, domination and really freaking sexy are a few words that come to mind. All of this is confusing Eve's senses and messing with her mind. She should be terrified of him but she is completely aroused in his presence.Eve is about to have a sexual awakening like nothing she has experienced before. Dante is a man who takes what he wants, when he wants it and when he sets his mind on having Eve, nothing was going to get in his way. And holy, this guy has a libido like no other and it turns out that Eve is just as insatiable when it comes to this man.Let's back up the bus a bit. Eve is a reporter for a local newspaper and she has been committed to exposing as much as she can about the Santiago family. She does investigative reporting and it comes with risks. She has personal reasons for this focus but a strong determination to seek justice.Dante is a very bad and dangerous man. He is part of a cartel and a ruthless, cold blooded killer. He lives a life filled with risk and danger, anyone he has ever loved or felt close to is now dead. He knows that bringing Eve into his life will now put a target on her as she will be seen as weakness, a way to get to him by his enemies. However, he just can't stay away from her.'Your light appeases my dark, Eve. When we're together I can almost taste whatever good is left in me'Turns out that Eve is not as good as a reporter because she is completely oblivious to who Dante is and what he does for a living. She has unwittingly been pulled into his crazy messed up life and now has to deal with it the best she can. When things go from crazy to out of this world mad, Eve finds herself doing things she never imagined. As Dante's enemies close in on them Eve has to adjust her moral compass if she wants to be with the man she is falling for.This is my first book from this author and not a genre I usually read much of but it's good to break away once in awhile and read something different :) I guess I would class this an erotic suspense novel. There is a lot happening in this story and it definitely kept me turning the pages until late at night!

Her brother got involved in one of those rings and paid with his life. The Santiago family are the ones responsible for his death and she is determined to uncover the illusive drug lords. The thing is no one outside the game know what they look like. One day at a liquor store a man puts a gun to her head and kidnaps her. Dante Santiago sees what he describes as his light to his dark, his angel. After kidnapping her and taking her away from all she knows they embark on a relationship that eventually turns to love. However when she finally discovers who he is will her love be enough. Dante is definitely a villain I fell in love with. There is more to him than meets the eye. Once you read his story you can't help but fall in love with him. The journey that Evie and Dante go on is a hate to love relationship that neither one wanted or expected. The fact he is one of the most notorious drug lords and the bain of Evie's existence makes for a rocky journey. I loved this story and can't wait for the next saga in their tumultuous relationship. 5 stars for me.

This is a great study book that get's me excited about each new lesson. It takes up quite some time to walk through each daily lesson - and that is time well spent! Each chapter has a core theme that you can instantly apply to your life.
I was amazed at the scope of the practical applications of this book, so much so that even the most Bible-immersed Sunday School class was enthralled and changed by this study. It takes you far beyond the historicity, culture, and climate of the Joseph story and his forebears, but brings the account right into your own home and family. Highly recommended for the seasoned as well as the novice.

Apparently text is basically ported from same named book for python, with statement that it is written for python and R. References to colors in pictures but all black and white. Don't buy this book. Because of very sloppy editing, I don't trust anything in it

Like Philosophy 101. I learned a lot. Glucklich writes well and with humor. I liked his solution to counter religious terrorism.
I'm giving this book 5 stars because Dr. Ariel Glucklich's work is substantial and his book is trying to open a new door in our analysis of what's driving suicide bombers. There may be some confusion about the book itself, because the cover and title may lead readers to expect that it's 300 pages of case studies from bombers' lives.That's not the case.The bulk of this book is about the nature of the spiritual fuel itself, which takes us from the lives of saints to scriptures to lines of poetry to psychological analysis to the inner workings of religious ecstasy to suicide bombers eventually.Dr. Glucklich is a highly respected scholar in religion, psychology and anthropology and one of his major areas of research involves the troubling forms of religious expression that are self destructive.That may seem like a strange area of expertise--but it's actually extremely important. As a journalist for more than 30 years, I've covered stories around the world about disastrously destructive human behavior. Some years ago, for example, the world was stunned by the Japanese sect that released poison gas in subways. Later, when documentary films were released of the sect's followers, it was confounding to find these people still so kindly and simply trying to follow remaining spiritual practices of this deadly group--even after the founder was in prison. If you're curious, Amazon sells the documentaries: AOur tendency is to react to suicide attacks, like this example in Japan, as evidence the attackers are crazy and their actions have nothing to do with "real" religion. Rather, Dr. Glucklich shows that their inner fuel, their point of departure from true religion into these tragically destructive ends, really is the same fuel that produces the great saints, for example.This actually is good, constructive news, because--if his analysis proves to be true long term--then it can lead to interventions to prevent this wonderfully noble spiritual energy from jumping the tracks at some point and aiming itself at violent ends.I strongly recommend the book and suggest small groups discuss its findings. Remember, though, mostly the book is an examination of this spiritual fuel down through history and various forms of religious expressions. It's fascinating and provocative. You'll have no shortage of discussion in your group.
Mark Twain famously said "Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand." Professor Glucklich seems to agree with him, although he did not use the quote. From page 274-289 this book presents an interesting argument that Islamic suicide terrorism can be largely eliminated when the general Muslim culture decides to poke fun at the perpetrators. At present, these societies elevate the murderous martyrs, something that Christianity and Judaism have outgrown. However, honoring the self-destructive in the larger society is only part of the problem. A more complicated aspect is the "happiness" one gets from literally giving "all" to God. It is that argument that Glucklich spends the first 273 pages exploring, and this huge chunk of book was to me boring, confusing, over-detailed with obscure references, and not persuasively stated.I do not know if Harper Collins, the publisher, assigned a great editor to the professor, who then ignored his or her advice, or if the editor was incompetent or far too timid, but the work to me is just about fatally flawed. As another reviewer, Monica, stated, those last dozen pages should have come first, and then the argument to justify his opinions could have been made. The marketing people, who probably named the book and created the cover blurb, caught my attention on the new book shelf at my public library, and that's why I brought "Dying for Heaven" home three weeks ago. Sadly, I had to force myself to keep plugging away in here, hoping that the book represented on the dust jacket was actually between these covers somewhere. One-third of the way through, Glucklich comments "the reader may be forgiven for feeling a little bit lost." Wow, does that sentence capture the wrong-headed arrogance of the author. IT WAS HIS JOB TO AVOID LOSING THE READER. DUH. I have trouble forgiving a writer who's blaming me for not getting his point.The professor gets annoying in another way as well. He keeps telling us what he is about to prove, or about to connect, but his next chapter "proofs" and "connections" are not stated in a style that persuades me. Somewhere around page 130, he quotes another writer as saying "The biggest challenge is the reader's boredom." Duh, again. Where was the editor, who should have jumped all over the author and told him "You are right. And you are guilty. This topic is about life, death, murder, and the hope of heaven. If you can't make that stuff fascinating, hire a ghost writer"? Page 134 was pretty well-done, but then we quickly sink back into the ancient history of religious rituals thousands of years ago in excruciating detail better suited to a doctoral thesis. I believe the author has great knowledge in his field, and good intentions, and may have a valid point about how to reduce the terrorism problem. He just isn't a compelling teller of the tale.
This is a must-read for policy makers in the West. In the forever quest to down-play religion as a cause of problem in issues of global affairs, there is a tendency to ignore what animates most people on this earth...their faith in God. To over-simplify acts of terrorism (carried out in the name of God) as resultant due, only to socio-economic reasons or loss of cultural identity (in the post-colonial frame-work) will prove extremely tactless. However, more books have been written to either victimize or criminalize adherents of a faith who take up arms or lay down their lives in the name of God. This book provides an insight into the world of "heart" as that is where faith and God reside. And, in the name of faith or God, from the heart, emanates love for both acts, compassion and crime.
Dying for Heaven is more than meets the eyes. I was surprised to see that it is essentially an evolutionary theory of religion. But unlike books on religion and evolution it is not about genetics but behavior. It explains how religion recruits human loyalty to the group and even engenders acts of self-sacrifice to the group and it does so by manipulating pleasures. I found the argument startling and the writing fresh. The front image and the chapters on suicide bombers catch the eye but are not essential to this book.
