Aside from the moment of establishment, the literature on Alaskan parks is surprisingly thin, so it's great to have this book as a resource. Catton also gives substantial attention to Bob Marshall's interest in Alaskan wilderness.This is an academic book. Despite the academic language, Catton gives us a lively narrative of the Alaskan national parks and the indigenous peoples who live in and among them.
